About
Index Express
Index Express is a small independent studio. Small enough that everything on this site shares one engine, one editor, one art sensibility and one stubborn idea: that a world you generate should be a place, not a shuffle.
We build in-house because it lets us make the games we actually want. A destructible voxel dungeon and a seeded alien horde run are not two projects that happen to be in the same folder — they're the same technology asking two different questions. When we fix how light reaches your screen, three games get better the same afternoon. When we build a tool that grows creatures from a seed, the dungeon gets a bestiary. That compounding is the whole strategy, and it's the only reason a studio this size can attempt worlds this large.
Our taste runs cold and specific. Slate and torchlight. Colour spent only where it means something. Sturdy shapes built to work underground, mildly macabre creatures, danger you can read at the edge of your light, and enough dry humour to keep it from taking itself too seriously. We would rather ship a short game with a real spine than a long one with a wide menu.
We're in development on everything here, and we'll tell you plainly which is which. Screenshots on this site are from working builds; where something is unfinished, the caption says so. We'd rather you trust the next thing we show you.

There's no newsletter treadmill here. We post a short devlog whenever something changes that a player would actually notice — new worlds, new creatures, a system that finally feels right — and that's the whole publishing schedule.
- Read the devlog — every update lives on this site.
- See the gallery — pictures of where things actually are.
